Biography
Patrick O’Connor is in his ninth year coaching boys’ basketball at St. John’s College High School (SJC) and his second season as the head coach of the varsity team. He began his tenure at SJC during the 2016–2017 season as head coach of the freshman team and an assistant coach for varsity. Ahead of the 2017–2018 season, he transitioned to a full-time varsity assistant role and was later promoted to associate head coach during the team’s championship-winning 2022–2023 WCAC season.

Before joining St. John’s, O’Connor taught sixth- and eighth-grade math while assisting the varsity basketball team at E.L. Haynes Public Charter School in Washington, DC. A Richmond, VA native, he attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA, where he earned a degree in business administration with a minor in education policy. O’Connor was a four-year letter winner and two-time captain of the W&L men’s basketball team.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, O’Connor teaches in the Benilde Program at St. John’s. He also earned his MBA from St. John’s University in spring 2021.
