Biography
Patrick O’Connor is in his tenth year coaching boys’ basketball at St. John’s College High School (SJC) and his third season as the head coach of the varsity team. He joined SJC ahead of the 2016–2017 season as head coach of the freshman team and an assistant coach for varsity. Prior to the 2017–2018 season, O’Connor transitioned into a full-time varsity assistant role before being promoted to associate head coach during the program’s championship-winning 2022–2023 WCAC season.
Before arriving at St. John’s, O’Connor taught sixth- and eighth-grade math at E.L. Haynes Public Charter School in Washington, DC, where he also served as an assistant varsity basketball coach. A Richmond, VA native, he graduated from Washington and Lee University with a degree in business administration and a minor in education policy. He was a four-year letterwinner and two-time captain of the W&L men’s basketball program.
In addition to his coaching duties, O’Connor teaches in the Benilde Program at St. John’s. He earned his MBA from St. John’s University in the spring of 2021.
